Born in India in 1871 to Thomas Edmonton Charles. T. E. Charles' obit in the British Medical Journal states that he was also born in India, where his father (who is unnamed but was called James Charles) worked in the Scottish Church in Calcutta. Her mother Ada Harriet (Rundell) Charles was also born in India, daughter of Francis Hornblow Rundell. (English)
